Rob Harper

Rob Harper was a native Texan, a 1979 graduate of JJ Pearce High School and a co-captain and goalkeeper for the Pearce soccer team that went undefeated during his senior season. While growing up, Rob played his youth soccer in the Richardson Soccer Association and later played for the Sparta and Dallas Roadrunner select soccer clubs. In addition, he was selected as a member of the U.S. Southern Region All-Star team. Rob attended SMU and played for the nationally ranked SMU Mustang soccer program and was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.

Rob graduated from SMU in 1982 with BA and BBA degrees, married his high school sweet heart, Caryn, and went on to raise two sons, Daniel and Will, at their family home in Carrollton, Texas. He coached his sons’ soccer teams and continued his playing career in men’s leagues. He was also a referee and was actively involved in the Carrollton- Farmers Branch Soccer Association. Before his untimely death in 2013 Rob had been developing real estate projects throughout the southwest for the Lamar Hunt Family for over 18 years.

Friends of Rob

The Friends of Rob consists of a group of friends, former teammates, competitors, and colleagues who were deeply affected by their relationships with Rob Harper. Rob was a person of character and integrity, a natural leader, and a moral compass for his friends and family. He had a passion for making the sport of soccer available to all those who wanted to play, and we are dedicated to fulfilling his vision through our partnership with FC Dallas Foundation.
